At Yatima Group Trust Fund (YGTF), we believe that every child has the right to grow up in a safe, loving, and nurturing environment — free from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and discrimination. Unfortunately, many orphans and vulnerable children face multiple risks due to poverty, loss of caregivers, or social instability. Our Child Protection and Care Program is designed to safeguard their well-being and ensure that their rights are respected and upheld.
This program focuses on creating protective family and community environments while also providing direct support to children who are at risk or in need. It combines advocacy, community engagement, and child-centered services to promote a holistic approach to child welfare.

Key Interventions
1. Strengthening Family and Community-Based Care
We support extended families, guardians, and foster caregivers — particularly grandmothers, aunts, and community members — who care for orphaned and abandoned children. YGTF provides training, counseling, and material support to improve the quality of care children receive within their homes.
2. Psychosocial Support and Counseling
Many children under our care have experienced trauma, loss, or abuse. We offer psychosocial support through individual and group counseling, child-friendly activities, and peer support programs that help children heal and build emotional resilience.
3. Child Rights Education
We raise awareness among children, families, teachers, and community leaders about children’s rights and the importance of child protection. This includes educating children on how to recognize and report abuse, and educating adults on how to prevent and respond to violations.
4. Protection from Violence, Abuse, and Exploitation
We work with local authorities and child protection committees to identify and respond to cases of child neglect, physical abuse, child labor, early marriage, and other harmful practices. YGTF advocates for justice and appropriate interventions for affected children.
5. Safe Spaces and Emergency Support
In high-risk situations, YGTF creates child-friendly safe spaces where children can receive temporary care, counseling, and protection services while longer-term solutions are arranged. We also support children with emergency needs such as clothing, food, shelter, and medical care.
Why It Matters
Protecting children is not just a responsibility — it is a moral and legal obligation. Children who grow up in safe and caring environments are more likely to succeed in school, form healthy relationships, and contribute positively to society. By ensuring their protection and care, YGTF is laying the foundation for a stronger, more compassionate future.
To date, this program has protected and supported hundreds of children, ensuring they not only survive but also thrive in safe, nurturing environments.
