Women and Youth Empowerment

Empowering women and youth is central to breaking the cycle of poverty and creating lasting social change. At Yatima Group Trust Fund (YGTF), we believe that when women and young people are equipped with the right skills, resources, and opportunities, they become powerful agents of transformation — not only in their own lives but also in their families and communities.

Many women and youth, particularly those caring for orphans and vulnerable children, face social and economic barriers that limit their potential. YGTF’s Women and Youth Empowerment Program is designed to address these barriers by providing access to training, income-generating opportunities, leadership development, and life skills.

What the Program Offers
1. Vocational Training and Skills Development
We offer hands-on training in practical trades such as tailoring, hairdressing, agriculture, food processing, and small-scale business management. This enables participants to start income-generating activities and become financially independent.

2. Entrepreneurship and Small Business Support
YGTF provides training in business planning, marketing, and financial literacy. We also offer startup kits or link participants to microloans or savings groups to help them launch and sustain small businesses.

3. Support for Caregivers of Orphans
Many caregivers, especially widows and grandmothers, are responsible for raising orphaned children with little to no income. Through this program, they receive training, support, and tools to improve their livelihoods and provide better care for the children under their care.

4. Youth Engagement and Life Skills
We equip young people with essential life skills such as communication, leadership, problem-solving, goal setting, and reproductive health education. We also create platforms for youth to voice their concerns and participate in community development.

5. Gender Equality and Women’s Rights Awareness
YGTF conducts community sensitization campaigns to challenge harmful gender norms, promote women’s rights, and encourage shared responsibilities in families and society. Empowered women are more likely to invest in their children’s education, health, and well-being.

? Why It Matters
Empowering women and youth is key to building resilient families and thriving communities. When women and young people are given opportunities to succeed, they invest back into their homes, improve child welfare, and strengthen the local economy.

Through this program, YGTF has enabled many women to start businesses, support their families, and regain confidence — while youth have gained the skills and mindset needed to take control of their futures.
